Este conjunto de dados geográficos, produzido pelo ICNF (Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Floresta), corresponde ao 6º Inventário Florestal Nacional (IFN) e foi preparado para ser disponibilizado como Linked Open Data (LOD) em formato RDF, com informações agregadas de acordo com as NUTSIII, no âmbito do projeto Cross-Forest. O IFN é um processo de natureza estatística e cartográfica, que tem por objetivo avaliar a abundância, estado e condição dos recursos florestais nacionais. No IFN, a produção de estatísticas baseia-se em processos de amostragem, os quais são realizados em diferentes etapas que compõem a tarefa global de Inventário. Em Portugal continental, o IFN iniciou-se em 1965 e, a partir dessa data, tem-se mantido de forma permanente com uma periodicidade aproximada de 10 anos. Os resultados são obtidos com base na Nomenclatura das Unidades Territoriais Estatísticas (NUTS), ao nível NUTS-I (Portugal Continental, Açores e Madeira), regionalmente (NUTS-II) e no IFN 6, também ao nível sub-regional (NUTS -III) para os principais indicadores.

This spatial dataset, produced by ICNF (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests), corresponds to the 6th National Forest Inventory (IFN) and was prepared to be made available as Linked Open Data (LOD) in RDF format, with aggregated information according to NUTSIII, within the scope of the Cross-Forest project. IFN is a process of statistical and cartographic nature, which aims to assess the abundance, state and condition of national forest resources. At IFN, the production of statistics is based on sampling processes, which are carried out in different stages that make up the global task of Inventory. In Continental Portugal, the IFN started in 1965 and, since that date, it has been maintained permanently with a periodicity of about 10 years. The results are obtained based on the Nomenclature of Territorial Statistical Units (NUTS), at the NUTS-I level (Continental Portugal, Azores and Madeira), regionally (NUTS-II) and at IFN 6, also at the sub-regional level (NUTS - III) for the main indicators.
